It was abandoned by the ODNR in 2014 and now they don’t want to actually fix it. They keep kicking the can down the road over fixing the dam. Shreve Lake was drained in 2014 due to dam issues and was supposed to be fixed in 2021. Now we have been pushed to the bottom of the “list” and they are saying possibly 2025 which is unacceptable. We have waited patiently for 7 years and now our once beautiful lake looks like an abandoned forest that no one cares about. There are very few lakes in Wayne County that are open to the public, most must travel out of the county to fish. This lake also provides income to the local businesses that has been lost by people not being able to use the lake.The lake was also used for many years by the local fire department as well as for training of the dive and rescue groups.
